Staining in Melbourne

The colour is the whole room

Considered by many as “best in the business”, Floorshow is one of the first in Melbourne to specialise in staining, liming and solid colouring of timber floors.

We cater for the most particular customers. We all want the perfect colour scheme in our home, especially on a focal point like the timber floors — Floorshow has a wide range of samples and custom colours, so you are sure to find the exact colour you like.

Staining your sanded floor will give your room a whole new look, and is particularly effective if you are looking for a unique or special effect where you have plain or commonly coloured floorboards.

How staining works
Colour and method

How your floor gets its colour

Different stains behave differently on the same timber. Application method changes the effect again.

01

A wide range to choose from

We offer a wide range of stains to choose from, helping you create the look you desire for your home. Colours range from black to white and everything in between, and custom colours are mixed to match what you have in mind.

02

Four types of wood stain

There are different types of wood stains — pigmented wiping stain, spirit stain, water-based stain and chemically reactive stains. Application methods can vary, producing a particular effect.

03

Grain enhanced, not hidden

Skilled application of custom stains enhances and clarifies timber grain, producing an exquisite colour co-ordinated effect rather than a flat, painted-looking floor.

Liming

Lighter, opaque, increasingly popular

Liming is a pigmented wiping stain, usually white, achieving a lighter somewhat opaque look. Grey and other white-based colours are becoming increasingly popular.
